Joni Mitchell - The Circle Game
Yesterday, a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star
Then the child moved ten times round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like, when you're older, must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town
And they tell him,
Take your time, it won't be long now
Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

(: I know the first thing that leaps out at you is the singer's name, but it doesn't bear any semblence to the one we know.
Anyhow, this song somehow reminds me of you! Because I think you're innocent like the child who's fearful and tearful, not that it's a bad thing. It makes me (and most probably, Ah Yuan too) want to protect you that's why you always see me so flustered whenever you're either sad/tired/angry.
The carousel and painted ponies! 木马木马~! (:
The dreams - I always tell you about my dreams, you tell me about yours. It's good to dream, but don't let it take over your life aight?
(: anyways, I just asked you if you were sleeping soon because yknow, I was writing this for you. And you said, "Nope, I'm not sleeping soon. Take your time to write!" and I didn't know whether to feel laugh or to cry. Laugh because at least you will be able to see this before you sleep and cry because it's nearly 1am and you are telling me you're not sleeping soon! HAHAHA I need to look after my life tomorrow! Otherwise you're going to have that time-bomb look again ;p
Oh righty ho! Y
